Sai Baba of Shirdi (1835- 1918) was arguably India’s most well known and venerated saint. A true world teacher, Sai Baba taught both Hindus and Muslims equally, and embraced all faiths and spiritual paths . . an embodiment of unity, divinity, and kindness. He was a poor man who preferred to spend his time in the streets among the people. You may see his image displayed in nearly every cab in Mumbai. For this sculpture, we’ve chosen a perhaps less well known photo of Sai Baba for inspiration.
