Nityananda took Mahasamadhi (a conscious exit from this earthly life) in 1961 at the age of 65. Naturally assuming a thinner physical form in preparation for his journey, this sculpture shows Nityananda filled with bliss, showering blessings and sweet love all around. Without knowing anything about the origins of this work, the sculpture was affectionately named ‘The Old Healer’ by workers at the foundry.
